Dr. Gu's appointment is a departure for Trinity.  Dr. Gu's background is in science and math.  Dr. Gu has lead the university in re-examining and updating the quality of the science and math authors and books.

1.  Strong academic background in theoretical model, statistics, SAS, probability theory analysis

·    Building and applying   nuclear tidal wave model  using  animation technology and   nonlinear-optimization brownian motion method, which  is a break-through and brand-new idea for nuclear physics in rotating and vibration frame.

·    Handling over 60 Gb experimental and  nuclear structure theoretical data set . Worked with over 10 members on data analysis using regression and curve fitting, and other statistical technologies.

·    Expert at handling ordinary and partial differential equations and practical knowledge at probability theory in Fortran.

2.  Solid experience in development of chaos/nonlinear/linear mathematical model

·   Used mathematical analysis software and monte-carlo method to estimate linear-dependence of nuclear density on transition probability. Validated results of  theoretical calculations.   

·    Solid knowledge on cluster analysis, generalized estimating equations, maximum likelihood, nonlinear models for repeated measurement data, etc.

·    Developed a theoretical model, which explained the chaos behavior of rotating-nuclei system at medium and heavy mass region.

3.   Over 7 years programming experiences in C/C++, VC ++, Matlab, Spreadsheet and VB

·    Solo C++ programmer for the data analysis of nuclear structure.  Conducted exploratory analyses to support group meetings.

·    Studied the stochastic behavior of nuclei in deformed shell using Visual C++. analyzing the export experimental data using the merge sort algorithm. 

·    Developed statistical methodology allowing comparison of parameters of seasonal variations in cross-sectional data. Investigating the distribution of nuclear potential energy surface using matlab.

·   Experienced in fitting large-scale experimental and theoretical data to various physical models using least square regression in origin and excel.
